fantastic pastrami

  • 9

Had one of the best pastrami sandwiches at Brent's Deli in Westlake Village. I've always loved Langer's in Westlake (not the village), but while the urban, ethnic vibe is cool, the neighborhood is not the easiest to get to from where I usually am. Brent's was recommended to me, so I gave it a try...I ordered the hot pastrami with swiss, which came with cole slaw & russian dressing on rye bread (#13 on the menu, I think). It was really, really good & very, very filling. So I have to say I've found the place to sate my pastrami cravings. Now I just need to run a 10k to work off this delicious sandwich.

  1. You want a sandwich, get their Black Pastrami Reuben.

Don't forget to get the sauerkraut grilled too.

    2. Don't forget Brent's has also been in Northridge since 1967 and that's where they started the Black Pastrami Rueben and today it's still one of the best sandwiches in LA.

      1. Good to know, I've always heard that Brent's Deli is very good, will have to try to make a trip out there some day soon.

It is very good. Even Marc Sommers from the Food Network goes there for the corned beef. Note that if you buy deli by the pound to take home, they also sell their bread by the pound rather than by the loaf.
The only thing I don't like is their chopped liver; they make it sweet and it aint supposed to be.

        2. Brent's has great smoked fish plates too. They make their own BBQ cod and you can't find that anymore at most deli's.

Didn't know that...their white fish salad is good !

          2. I went to the Brent's Deli in Northridge & had the great hot pastrami with swiss...it was just as good, if not even tastier than the one in Brent's Westlake Village. Maybe it was the retro, old school vibe in Northridge...similar in spirit to Langer's. The Westlake Village location is a much newer and nicer restaurant, but seems to have a little bit less soul than the older, funkier Northridge location. Now I just need to order the Black Pastrami Reuben next time...though not a big fan of reubens generally.

if you don't like reubens, the pastrami and turkey dip is awesome also.
