Very sad and disturbing news. When I was in high school, my best friend and I would only eat M&Ms at lunch so we could save our allowances and go eat at Gumbo's on Friday and then watch a dollar movie next door in Wells Branch. Gumbo's was also the resto I ate at for my first date ever. Yoli was so eccentric and beautiful, and her husband made some of the best food I have ever tasted. We were so happy when they opened Mama Roux's. They were hardcore restauranteer-business people. I am just so shocked. Prayers to their friends and family. Their contributions to the Austin food scene over the years were very important and they will be missed.

Just so sad.

They were always so nice when we ate at Mama Roux. Their hospitality and their very fine gumbo will be sorely missed.
