Woodlot, L.A.B. or Campagnolo - Dining with a Vegetarian

Heading out this weekend with a good friend. Looking for a cozy, friendly spot with great food. I've shortlisted Woodlot, L.A.B. and Campagnolo as they're all high on my "to try" list and they seem to have good vegetarian options. Assuming I can still get a reservation, do any of these stand out above the others? Thanks.

Thanks all - Woodlot seemed like the clear winner but they told me I couldn't get a table before 10 so that's not going to work. And we might not be quite early enough to attempt a walk-in spot. Estufarian, I trust your food recs but for atmosphere, I think Campagnolo is probably more what I'm after this time - hoping I can get a table there.

See if you can get the Chef's bar/table. It's a good spot if you like chatting with the Chefs. Max of 4 there, and you're all facing the kitchen. Depends on what you're going for.

Hands down Woodlot - delicious & great ambience, exactly as you describe. Real food, real ingredients. Tried to go there again last week though & could not get a table with 4 days notice! Heard they are 2 - 3 weeks out for certain nights.

my understanding was that the large table on the main floor is a communal table they set aside for walk-ins. i know some have walked in about 6:30 and gotten seats but not sure when the table fills up.

Got a res today for 10:30 for a deuce. Very busy when we got in. They have a whole alternate veg menu, which was interesting. Mentioned that it was the "to share" menu, but.. it really wasn't.

Still.. pork chops with apples was good (those apples from the tatin make an appearance - so good). Tagliatelle was best. Liked the ox tail and ox tongue terrine as well.

That said, I think I still like Campagnolo more.

I second Woodlot. Great vegetarian menu - lots of options. Freshly made pastas and interesting kitchen set up. You may need to have a late dinner service. Pleasant service and good atmosphere. Wherever you go, enjoy!

I took my girlfriend to Campagnolo for the Valentine's prix fixe meal and I have to say I really didn't like it. It's a nice atmosphere with friendly service but the food--for me the most important element of dining--was poorly executed. I barely finished a dish with rubbery agnolotti and undercooked lobster in an unimaginative cream sauce and we both left embarrassing amounts of our uninspired partridge mains on our plates. This meal came right after a dinner at Woodlot and I found no comparison between the two. The food at Woodlot is excellent and a few dishes are stellar (pappardelle and French onion soup) and the atmosphere is very warm and cozy. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Campagnolo will vegetarianize dishes if they can. I haven't been to the others, but I did enjoy my meals at Campagnolo recently.

                  Haven't tried Campagnolo.
At weekends Woodlot is 'typically' only available Very early (say 5:00) or somewhat late (after 9:30) unless you book earlier than now!

I think Woodlot is more 'comfort' food and L.A.B. more 'creative' in style. But recommend both.

Woodlot is cozy and friendly and has a great vegetarian menu. I found LAB lacking in the food department, though I know it gets some love around here. The atmosphere is just ok. Haven't been to Campagnolo.
