Lunch recs in Walnut Creek

morningbun Feb 23, 2011 08:57 AM

I'm going to be in Walnut Creek for lunch this Sunday. Seeing as I'm a city girl, I'm not familiar with the area. What are your go-to recommendations for a good meal out there? Anyplace particularly interesting? Thanks!

I really enjoy Va De Vi, although you'll have to spend a little to get full

Two of my favorites are Lark Creek Cafe and the new Eleve.

Chopin Cafe is a longtime chowhound fave. Great homestyle Polish/Eastern European food at an unlikely location (in a middle-of-nowhere strip mall).

While neither of my suggestions are technically in the Creek they are where I would go to lunch when I used to have to go to Walnut Creek for work occasionally. I really like the Sichuan dishes at Sichuan Fortune House in Pleasant Hill. I also really like the tacos dorados at Tortilleria El Molino as well as their chips and tortillas. This is a counter with a few tables, not the place for a leisurely lunch, but really irresistible. Writing this almost makes me want to go back through that darned tunnel.

Sasa does a hip japanese-fusion thing that we like. They are open Sunday at noon for lunch. http://sasawc.com/contact/location-an...

SaSa is the best. I've eaten at VaDiVi - which is great -and then I had lunch at SaSa just this week. Short rib sliders, ahi tuna salad and a wonderful pear martini - under $25 for one person. The service was great & welcoming.
