Food (or late night) near Music Box
I'll be in town for the weekend and I plan to catch a show at the Music Box on Saturday night. Could anyone recommend a place to grab a meal pre-show, or possibly anything open late? Would definitely be open for trucks/mobile vendors if any are around there too.
Also if I understand this correctly: Blue Palms is attached to the Music Box? I'm real interested in craft beer too and sounds like that'd be a place to check out. How's the food there? Are the two places in close enough proximity to where they'd allow beer to be brought into the concert venue?

In answer to the Blue Palms question, there is an interior door between Blue Palms and the Music box so you can in fact go back and forth between Blue Palms and the Music Box. I don't think that they let you take beer from Blue Palms into the Music Box but you can for example go and have a beer in between the opener and the main act or during the opener if you don't like the opener.
I think the two best restaurants in walking distance are Los Balcones del Peru (Vine & Delongpre) and Hungry Cat on Vine just north of Sunset. I wouldn't call Hungry Cat cheap or inexpensive but it's not super pricey and you could always just get a cup of chowder if you are trying to stay on a budget. For late night fare, your best bets are either Thai Town to the east or tacos/burritos at a stand (forget the name of it) about a mile south on Vine.

I've been to Blue Palms before attending shows at the Music Box. The several times I have been it's been jammed (chances are you may be eating while standing and balancing food and drink), takes forever to get served and the food is slow coming or overcooked or nothing to write home about. Perhaps if you get there really early, it's ok.

I know the OP's already gone to the show, but to update the topic:
There are no other Music Box "adjacent" restaurants. But within easy walking distance are Lexington Social House and Wood & Vine, both kind of chill, with Wood & Vine being a little more laid back imho. There's also Delphine, which can be more sceney, and the food's not as good as the aforementioned two, with Lexington being the better. All three are in the $20-30 range.
More casual and inexpensive places are Al Wazir chicken, Burger Factory and Dos Burritos.
And they have surprisingly good food at The Well. Or there's Dillons which serves traditional sports bar fare in...... a sports bar. They have lots of beers, too.
All of these places are within 2 blocks of the Music Box.

I like to go to Palms Thai. They're open late, so you can stay for all the encores, and they serve beer and spicy food. It's a pretty loud atmosphere, so if you're excited about the show, you won't feel weird semi-yelling.

The Blue Palms is in fact attached to the Music Box; but I doubt if they'll let you bring beer from there into the Music Box as they have beer sales in the Music Box.... check out the rooftop patio at the Music Box.
Regarding restaurants in the area, you can search "Pantages" and get a lot of options. The Pantages is a much larger venue 2 blocks west of the Music Box.
But generally speaking, there is a new fancy hamburger place called Go Burger on Sunset and Vine that's been getting pretty good reviews. Get the smashed burger.... and the skinny fries are good, too.
And you have Thai Town just to the east. Sanamluang is a noodle place that's open until 4:00 a.m.

re: lil mikey
Thanks! I have a couple friends with me who are not 21, so would there be any issues in getting them into Blue Palms if we do decide to eat there? They sound more like a restaurant/brewpub type establishment rather than a bar, but I just want to be sure.

re: air
the food at Blue Palms is very good. But it's not really a restaurant, more like a gastropub. I don't remember the under-21 admittance policy, maybe you should give them a call first. It's definitively a cool place to have a bite before a show, and it has a really nice atmosphere.
