Good experience, new resto: Akki Bistro (Izakaya style), Thornhill

*** (I don't feel we had enough variety to make this a formal chowhound-worthy review) ***

Recently ate here with the SO and really liked the food. Tried the yakisoba okonomiyaki and the kaki fry which was served with a creamy wooster sauce on the side. Also had the surf and turf yakitori, but this wasn't as well done as the fried entrees. I think Izakaya-ku in j-town had better yakitori, but definitely I did like Akki's fried stuff -- it hit the spot for what I remember from my travels. A partial list of their menu is available @ http://grubcanada.com/cities/thornhil...

Would love to hear if other chowhounders have tried this place and if so what are their opinions. Disclosure: I've posted a 4-star review on yelp.ca.

I've always had positive experiences at Akki. Their ingredients are always fresh, their dishes are tasty. Service is very attentive and kind. I recommend the wakame salad, unagi don and the oddly named 'Akki Hamburger Steak'.

I only had the izakaya once, and it was fine, but nothing too great.

Akki is not new, it has been around for more than 1 year, it is a older restaurant than Izakaya-Ju. I walked pass it when I visit Sariwon. Thanks for review, I have never been there though.
