Rustic Food for a Private Party of 12?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning for a small party for 12 people at the end of March. Looking for rustic food with great wine selection in a casual restaurant. Something like Chuck's Garde-Mange would be ideal. But I'd like to have more options. My budget is max.$100/Person including tax and tips and I'd rather to stay away from white-table settings. Also loud music is a no-no for my guests (although everyone is under 40) So exclude places such as Newtown in downtown... Even a private suite in a boutique hotel would be nice if it does not go higher than my budget....

You guys have any suggestions?
Really appreciate your help :)

    Mckiernan's!!

    Sounds like the perfect fit!

For those who don't know, Mckiernan's is the Joe Beef/Liverpool House offshoot. It seats roughly 15 people and is perfect for groups. Plus it's a great value! I had an event there recently and would highly recommend it. It's wonderfully cozy and personal, like being at a dinner party. For your budget, I think they would really put together something spectacular. Enjoy!

      Thanks all...
I think Le Saint-Gabriel is a wonderfull suggestion...
I have to say I like McKiernan's. We live just close to this place and been there often so for this event I'd like to try something different.
La Salle a Manger sounds like a great idea... I haven't been there ... maybe we try it this weekend...
      Will keep you posted :)

        Hi Everyone,

Just to give you an update with regards to our experience at Le Saint-Gabriel. (Although it has been a while since the dinner party but I thought you guys might want to know)
It was amazing.... they made a 3-course menu specific for us and everything went very well. We ended paying more than out budget (around 160 / person) tax, tip & drinks included but we are not regretting that.

        Thanks again for your suggestions,
        Cheers

The food and setting at La salle a manger would probably fit your criteria, and I've seen them do big groups there. I don't think they have private rooms though... (http://lasalleamanger.ca/)

Don't know about the private room, but it's a good place for groups.

I don't think Garde Manger takes reservation for groups more than 4 (and it can get VERY loud).

          What is rustic food ?

            Hi Maximilien,
I did not know that Garde-Mange dose not accept reservation for more than 4. Good to know...
To answer your question about rustic food I have to say i mean something not very fancy but great quality... for example to me Jamie Oliver has rustic food style... good food but not worrying about the dish it is presented in it...
But all in all I'm looking for a casual place to sit down with my friends and have a great food + wine without being disturb with loud music or people walking around us...
            Thanks,
