alerto's on brookhurst/405. half order of carne asada nachos w/ large orange bang.

Alerto's so massively over rated! I don't know what people like about dry meat and tasteless salsa so much.

open until wee hours of the morning and serves orange bang. better than the other a* alternatives (alfredos, albertos, etc)
(btw the post was made in jest since the OP didn't state ANY stipulations)

South of the 405 on Brookhurst has a nice selection of Japanese places:
Tsuruhashi - the best yakiniku in orange county; dinner only. This is where I'd go if you like all kinds of different cuts of meat
Shin Sen Gumi, has both a Ramen and a robata yakitori side; yakitori is only available at dinner time
Kappo Honda for izakaya fare
If you go North on Brookhurst from the 405, you'll shortly go from Fountain Valley into Westminster and Little Saigon, which opens up a whole bunch of options for great Vietnamese food.

Be cautious about these places they could get crowded.

Not too far from Fountain Valley is Cafe Hiro. Their osso buco is the bomb made with wagyu beef. This place I recommend!

Xanh Bistro. Vietnamese but with some ambiance and good service. Tucked away in the corner of the Albertsons plaza.
If you're there for lunch, I recommend O-Udon, which has excellent handmade udon in soup or not. You'll have to get there early because he only makes 200 portions a day and when they're gone, they're gone.
Tsuruhashi, Shin-Sen-Gumi and Kappo Honda are both good suggestions as well, and I'll throw in Com Tam Tran Quy Cap for Vietnamese "broken rice" plates. Excellent.
Cafe Hiro is good but it is not very close to Fountain Valley.

How about some bahn xeo at Van Restaurant. 14122 Brookhurst St, Garden Grove. Certainly worth any detour for this wonderful dish that's so hard to find.

Just a little north on Brookhurst there is always my favorite pho joint. Pho 79 on Hazard just off of Brookhurst.
