Vancouver / Whistler visit in March

Visiting Vancouver for two nights for a wedding, and then Whistler for three nights in March. For Whistler, I hear Rim Rock and Araxi are good choices. Any other recommendations for both good high-end dining and cheaper eats? For Vancouver, we're thinking of trying Lumiere. Is it worth it? Also, any good sushi recommendations for Vancouver? Thanks.

Oh, that sucks! I've read such good reviews of Lumiere, and it has been on my list of places to try for years, but never was able to spend enough days in Vancouver to try it ... and now too late! Any other recommendations for a similar style of restaurant in town?

Broken record here, but you might enjoy Bishop's. He kinda started the whole eat local thing in Vancouver, and the resto is not far from Lumiere in a very Vancouver-y neighbourhood.

Bishop's menu looks great as do the photos / presentation of the food! Expensive, but sounds like it's worth it.

for whistler there is also bear foot bistro.
imho, lumiere is worth if monetary cost is not a concern.

My favourite sushi option right now is Kimura. Yes, it is out of the way. But it is worth the drive, especially if you are able to do the omakase. Call ahead a day at least.
