King Crab Legs

I am looking for any suggestions on where to get excellent King Crab Legs in the area.

My favorite presentation of King Crab is at Joe's Stone Crab (Miami or Chicago). They are served chilled and cracked table side.

I have had the version at Oceanaire and it is very good, however the legs were fresh steamed and served warm. I would like to find a chilled version.

Morton's has great crab on their shellfish platter which is also available in an entree portion. I have never had the entree, so not sure if that is chilled.

I would appreciate hearing of any other places which has great king crab served simply.

For a meh chilled king crab experience, you can always try Minado in Natick. It's AYCE so they make up in quantity what they lack in quality.

That's right - my mistake. My clearest memory of that place is being totally bloated.

You might want to give Peach Farm a call. Last time we were there, they paraded around a gigundo crab whole. No idea what price was(high for sure), but a table of guys went for it.

Legal Seafood has King Crab Legs. You can probably get them to go at the Chestnut Hill branch which has a small fish market.

have you tried calling Oceanaire and asking whether they can serve theirs chilled? On another note, I had the Joe's (Chicago) version a few months back and it was easily the best shellfish I have ever eaten. It cost a fortune though (maybe $69?)

That price point sounds about right. We usually split an order as an app for 4 people or so. The last time we were there everyone liked those legs more than their steaks (and Joe's does some of the best steak in Chicago). Those king crab legs put the signature stone crab to shame (IMO). I think my chances of finding something comparable around here are slim unfortunately.

As a big fan of the stone crabs at the original Joe's, I have found that stone crabs at the Miami Beach location far exceed those in Chicago. Interestingly enough I mail ordered some of the medium claws and they were much better than the ones I had in Chicago and just about as good as the ones in Miami.

Having once eaten somewhere north of 50 jumbo stone crab claws at Joe's in Miami (business dinner, paid for by Phillips, where my tablemates shamefully, barely put a dent in their food) I can say with a clear conscience, that King crab is just not as good,,, urp.

Barely walked back to my hotel.

Russell House Tavern in Harvard Sq. has them. I thought they were pretty flavorless when I tried them, but as it was my first time having them I don't have anything to compare them to. Also, I grew up on Chesapeake Bay crabs...

RHT serves jonah crab claws, not king crab legs. I agree, though, that they're a miss -- strangely waterlogged and completely overwhelmed by the gloppy ginger and harissa aioli that's served alongside. Also, the claws are served on crushed ice, which made its way into the crab and was an unpleasant surprise to bite into.
