Heading to Raleigh this weekend
Go up to visit my son for his birthday, basketball game and dinner. Would appreciate any suggestions. He is strictly a meat eater-mainly red meat and fish. Is girl friend has food allergies and can not eat wheat or corn products.
Thanks.

What is your price point?
For a steal and a helluva meal, I love the Oakwood Diner in downtown Raleigh --> have your son order the Churrasco Steak oakwoodcaferaleigh.com
For upscale, Bloomsbury Bistro is my fave, though I have always had very good meals at Glenwood Grill, too. www.bloomsburybistro.com www.glenwoodgrill.com
I'm a fan of 18 Seabord as well. Also for Italian-inspired: Vivace and sushi (if your son is in a fish mood!), I like Waraji warajirestaurant.com / www.vivaceraleigh.com / 18seaboard.com
Finally, I have always enjoyed Fraziers, but have not been since it reopened .... anyone have an update? www.frazierswinebar.com

18 Seaboard would not be a bad option for you. They have a lot of tasty things but also offer straight up steak and grilled fish that your son would probably appreciate. I'm sure that they could accommodate his girlfriend's allergies.

Sounds like a steakhouse could be a good fit. The Angus Barn is ok but expensive. Zely & Ritz does great tapas and may have some good fish dishes on the menu. How about J Betski's or maybe Capital Club 16 for American/German/Polish meat and potatoes kind of fare? I haven't been to either of those. Or Poole's Diner, which I always recommend, but they don't take reservations.
