Great Croissant in Downtown Bellevue - Via Vita

I just stopped into a new place this weekend in downtown Bellevue close to the Library and found one of the best croissants I have had recently. Via Vita Cafe, is a great new place that has great food, coffee and wines. The ham and cheese croissant was buttery with just the right amount of cheese and ham to be very satisfying.

In addition to great baking from pastry chef Jeffrey Robinson, chef Phil Collins has prepared menus for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. I lived in the Basque Country so have a very soft spot for piquillo peppers and chorizo which show up frequently on the menus. I will have to try this place for a dinner very soon now that I've found a great place for croissant.

  1. Went there for dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised. The menu seems to rotate frequently according to the owner and everything except the baguettes are made in house. We shared a pea shoot and cured duck salad over pureed fava beans, carpaccio, a terrine with pork and sweetbreads and a sausage and warm potato salad. We also had a fruit tart for dessert. I can see this being a new regular go to place.
