Casual Lunch in Solvang

Will be stopping here for lunch tomorrow and would appreciate a casual/fun place, nothing gourmet, just good salads and sandwiches, etc. that captures the uniqueness of Solvang.

There are several nice choices....Panino on 1st street has gourmet sandwiches and salads- chips and drinks.
Fresco- sandwiches soups and salads plus pasta- South Atterdag
Cafe Angelica on First street as well- good pastas and specialty sandwiches.
Bit O Denmark- copper tables and traditionsl danish fare plus specialty as well
Valley Sweets is selling cupcakes on Mission drive- inside The Olive House- delicious!

Haven't eaten at the Panino in Solvang, but the one in Los Olivos is always my lunch spot of choice. Delicious simple foods, well-made! In the "greater" Solvang area, PattiBakes in Buellton is usually my choice for coffee drinks, breakfast pastries or lunch goods.

Be sure to get abelskivers - the round Danish pancakes - Paula's Pancakes gets top reviews: http://www.paulaspancakehouse.com/

But there are some kitschy cafes in the heart of Solvang to also try that have some "Danish" specialities - Solvang is still a small family type town regardless of its tourist hype. Solvang Restaurant on Copenhagen street is on the main street that sells them from a sidewalk window, but might also be worth going there for lunch -- just for this retro small town cafe feel. Lower your dining expectations and just enjoy being in the middle of the fun: http://www.solvangrestaurant.com/abou...
