Lunch places near downtown Delta.

SourberryLily Feb 21, 2011 05:16 AM

i just got a job downtown near The delta hotel and The Bay, on the maisonneuve. I am having trouble getting good lunch spots, the cafe sandwiches are getting old!
There are many food court, and thats where my colleagues go so they are no help.

Any suggestions on good takeout places, good ramen noodles, good exotic foods? Especially places nearby for the winter!

I'm sure there are threads about this already, but downtown is somewhat large.

I love the suggestions on chowhound and how it makes me discover places. I hope you guys can help. :)

I work not far from there, and unfortunately it's something of a dead zone for good food. However, Furusato's not bad (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/725555). Also, Il Focolaio in Philips Square makes acceptable pizza. I think there's a Buns not too far as well.

Furusato seems nice. They do takeout?

Sadly I don't remember, but I'm sure that they could be convinced - worst comes to worst, bring some tupperware...

I've seen someone getting take-out while I was there. I don't know if their whole menu is available for take-out, but some dishes certainly are at least.

I don't know if you are a big lunch eater or more of a snacker, but my husband keeps going on and on about a depanneur near Java U on Union and President Kennedy that has awesome samosas and chicken biryani. I have only had the samosas and they were nice. Sorry I can't give more specific directions, I have never been there and my husband isn't always so good with directions.

My top 3 in the area:
Furusato - Japanese, top quality fantastic value, friendly service, try the #3 sushi lunch special.
Amelio's on Milton, one of the best pizzas in Montreal, very reasonable prices
Wing Fa on Park Ave. Wonderful and affordable, nice ambiance. Try the General Tao chicken
