Looking for recipe using Maine shrimp & cod

Purchased two pounds of Maine shrimp today -- the season is over and this is our last shot until next December. Going to use about a pound for shrimp and grits tonight. Trying to decide what to do with the remainder. Have about 1/3 pound of gorgeous cod filet also. Thinking about some sort of shrimp/cod cakes that I can prep today and panfry tomorrow evening. Have looked to no avail for an inspirational recipe to get me going. Does anyone have a suggested recipe or alternative use for the seafood? TIA.

If you search here for moqueca (de peixe) you will find 11 hits for a very good brazilian fish stew. Choose your recipe.

      Broil the cod,

Poach the shrimp in salted water.

Make a hollandaise type sauce, fold in the skrimp. Skrimp hollandaise on Broiled cod with braised collards and leftover grit cakes.

How about a cioppino or bouillabaisse type of soup? Use the shrimp shells first for your stock.
I don't know if everyone does this, but I found that sauteing the shrimp shells in oil for a few minutes before adding the water makes the stock much richer.

I agree about the soup. Maine shrimp would lose their wonderful texture if they were in a cake. You could just poach your cod and then throw the shrimp in, They should take about 30 seconds to cook. I'd be shocked if you found Maine shrimp with shells, though!

i've got maine shrimp in the fridge right now with shells still on. why do you think that's unusual?

if you can actually find them shelled they're about triple the price.
