upscale casual in Long Beach

  • 6

Looking to meet out of town friends in Long Beach. Any cuisine except sushi , quiet enough for conversation.
TIA

  1. You might try Cafe Sevilla in downtown Long Beach. I don't recall the food being anything special, but it was a decent value and an entertaining evening. Paella was bland, but everything else we had was fine.

    1. Michael's on Naples is a wonderful Italian restaurant which is usually reasonably quiet. It is definitely more upscale than casual, but it's not terribly dressy. I wouldn't wear jeans there, but certainly for a man, cotton pants and a sport shirt/sweater would be fine. This is a great spot!

Cafe Sevilla is not generally a quiet place, and the food is not really up to snuff IMHO.

Michaels is more upscale than casual but it certainly is delicious if you can afford it.

Delius if you chose wisely on the menu is nice enough (avoid fish and soup).

How about Benley? It may or may not show up on the link so the address is 8191 E Wardlow in a strip mall. Delicious, fits my def of "upscale casual" , small and quiet.

Most definitely Michael's, it's a bit more casual if you sit up on the roof top deck, it is ALWAYS phenom! Absolutly my favorite place. I cannot say enough about it!

Looks like we all agree on Michael's as the perfect spot for eyelean!

        2. Thanks for the suggestions. Have made a reservation for Michael's on Naples for next week. Will report back with my impressions!
