Dinner Rec's

Coming into town from Philly to see Jersey Boys. Looking for the best of the best near the August Wilson theatre. Open to American, Seafood, French, Comtemporary.

Thanks for your help!

If price point is not an issue, I'd walk a few blocks east to Le Bernadin. Definitely the best of the best in the neighborhood for seafood focused French food. Just a few more blocks east is The Modern. The name says it all - really inventive and delicious dishes. It's also quite expensive but they have a more casual and affordable Bar Room.

If you head in the opposite direction from the theater, there's a cute wine and cheese shop that serves fondues and Mediterranean tapas called Kashkaval.

Otherwise you might consider checking out the Time Warner building, which houses a range of restaurants from very expensive French (Per Se) to modern Italian (A Voce) to more casual French (Landmarc).

And enjoy the show. Jersey Boys is great!

In order to make searching easier: It's Le BernaRdin. Not Le Bernadin.

Landmarc you would describe as French ???

That's what I get for typing quickly on my phone and not proofreading.

Thanks for the spelling correction. And no I would not describe Labdmarc as casual French. I meant casual American. Although they definitely do have some French influences, but I agree that gives the wrong expectation.

Hold it right there. You may be partly correct. Landmarc's website describe themselves as "serving contemporary bistro fare that blends French and Italian favorites"

Maybe subconsciously I didn't know how to classify Landmarc.

It's one of the more difficult restaurants to pigeon hole. They do a little of this and a little of that. And it sort of all falls under "New Anerican" or bistro fare.

I wasn't sure when you said 'seafood' if sushi was ok for you. If so, Shimizu on 51st is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Sit at the bar and enjoy. In fact, that's where I ate when I went to see Jersey Boys! Enjoy!

I searched for a thread for Landmarc to put in my own two cents - I went yesterday for lunch - and was so impressed with my selection. It was a special sandwich - so not always on the menu - it was braised lamb with carmelized onions, bread and butter pickles, and their own aioli on ciabatta roll. Perfect sandwich! One that is memorable.
