Penzey's Spices in Santa Rosa

I was at the Montgomery Village shopping center in Santa Rosa yesterday and went into the Penzeys Spices store there. I have been a fan of their catalog for years and didn't realize they had an actual store in the area. What a great place! Hundreds of herbs and spices at incredibly low prices. I also appreciated that you can buy 1.2 ounce jars of almost everything so you can try things and/or not have them get stale before you use them up. Super nice and knowledgeable people working there. It smells great too. I can't wait to go back even if I have to drive an hour to get there. Definitely worth the trip.

  1. Tried to add the address as a link, but couldn't get it to work. Here's the address: 736 Farmers Lane, Santa Rosa, CA. Phone is 707-566-7772.

    1. There's also one in Menlo Park, which depending on where you live might be closer. I was using their wonderful Rogan Josh last night.

      1. I'm a big fan of Penzey's. I'm glad to hear about this opening. Someone gave me a gift certificate to Penzey's catalog about 15 years ago. I've been ordering spices from them ever since. I lived in Houston for a while and they had a store. It was really fun to be able to smell all the spices, compare cinnamon, etc. They seem to open in lower rent places as opposed to a place like SF. I'll definitely be stopping here on my way to Healdsburg or when stopping in at Russian River Brewing in Santa Rosa.

        1. I go to the Menlo Park one all the time. They are great and you can get bulk pricing in the store, even if they don't sell the bigger practice. The bagged spices are pretty well priced. Many of them are pretty potent, like their cloves. We actually like some of their blends - I am usually prefer to blend my own, but found some there that I appreciate for super quick lunches or dinners.

          1. good to know, thanks!

            1. Thanks for this information!

I was just in Santa Rosa and discovered Savory, a similar (but seemingly smaller) spice store. Can anyone offer comparisons?
