Quick Meal at Post 390

We got off to a late start looking for somewhere to eat dinner last night, and happened to walking down Clarendon when the crazy downpours/hail started, so we decided to duck into Post 390 and give it a try. We were seated immediately upstairs around 8:15. I couldn't believe how large the space was inside, I thought that the restaurant only had ground floor seating. We weren't looking to have a large meal, just a drink and an entree, so we skipped over the apps and enjoyed the warm bread they brought out. Beer prices range from reasonable to high, although $6 for my Lagunitas IPA wasn't bad. My bf ordered a black and tan that was tasty but probably 1/3 black and 2/3 tan, so that seemed odd to us. I got fettuccine with portobello mushrooms, spinach, and goat cheese and my bf got the Post burger with fries, cooked medium. My dish had good flavors and just the right amount of goat cheese, but the pasta was probably cooked a minute past al dente. His burger was OK but sloppily assembled--pickles cut 1/2" thick, FAR too much lettuce, too many slices of tomato. This meant that the entire contents of the burger slid out when he took his first bite, so that was kind of annoying. Additionally, he specifically asked the server what their 'medium' looked like and then ordered accordingly. This burger was a solid medium-rare. Overall, the ambiance of the place was nice, and I think that the bar downstairs would be a fun spot to get a drink and snack. The menu seemed overpriced for what you get, though, and I think that Coda up the street does a better job at lower prices executing a similar kind of food.
