Best fresh fish restaurant in Toronto

My wife and I go out 2 times a week. We live in the Yonge and Eglinton area. Besides Zucca (that we love) we can't find a good restaurant that serves plain grilled fresh fish. Maybe Zee's Grill, but not as good as Zucca. For all you foodies out there, please help us!

Thanks AzulH and CocoTO. I went to the threads and concluded that there is not much out there. We're going to check Joso's out. if we find a good one, we will report back.

Chiado and Starfish would be my first picks for grilled fish. I have had a superb grilled Tunisian sea bream at Starfish. Chiado flies different fishes in from Portugal, and offers various fishes at market prices.

I've heard good things about the grilled fish at Tabule, but I haven't tried it yet.

Malena is my favourite restaurant for grilled octopus. Haven't tried their grilled fish. Has anyone tried Malena's grilled fish?

Definitely second Malena as a great seafood and whole fish option. Starfish, Vertical and Chiado would be my other suggestions. Joso's is just too old fashioned and way too expensive for my tastes anymore.

... you find Joso's more expensive than Chiado? I've enjoyed both numerous times and wouldn't put Chiado in a more price conscious category ...

Way more value associated with Chiado. Service, ambiance, service, service and better cooking in general.

Lots of great options in the threads referred by AzulH ...

... specific to what you're looking for, I always think of Joso's. They bring the daily fish selection to your table (on an ice platter) you pick and then they simply grill it.

I haven't yet been to Chiado, but I recommend Starfish, Joso's and Vertical for grilled whole fish. I'd also strongly recommend O'Mei for steamed whole fish with ginger and scallions, or a number of other preparations. You can choose your fish as it is swimming in the tank. Magic Wok also has fresh fish, but their service leaves a lot to be desired. Charles Yu has recommended another place, claiming that the chef has the most impeccable timing for steamed fish in the city. I can't remember if it was fantasy eatery or tanchikee, or perhaps another place. Hopefully he'll pipe in with the answer.

Had a great whole grilled sea bream at Campagnolo yesterday, though they change thir menu every few days so they may not always have fresh fish. Very well priced ($24)
