Good place to eat + drink (12-14ppl)

Hey all,

Trying to choose a place for my 24th birthday next month. Ideally I'd like somewhere that we could eat + have some drinks, or if not a resto near a good bar will do.

I'm considering Pullman's but last time i was there with a group their service was really poor.

I'm thinking of going to Candi bar for drinks, but I don't think there are any eats around there.

My fallback plan will most likely be Au Pied du Cochon.

Thanks all

Candi bar gets packed early most good nights (I've seen lineups around the block by 11), you may have trouble with a group that size depending on the night. It goes without saying you'll need to reserve well in advance for APDC for that many people.

La Cabane on St-Laurent has good food (Portugese and steak) and drinks at cheap prices and has room for crowds to walk in - that's a tried & true dinner & watch the game with buddies place for me. In the same vein, Barcelos on Prince-Arthur is also a good idea, it's Jano's smaller brother restaurant, but without the wait/need for reservations. 14 people would pack the place, but there should be room or at least not a long wait most of the time. Great food and booze at reasonable prices.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm actually portuguese and have a pretty strict rule about eating at portuguese restos (basically, "if grandma can make it I'm not going to a resto for it") but for a birthday these might be good places.

      Anyone else have any suggestions?

        A few suggestions:

Assommoir: food ain't great but lively ambiance, good for groups, great drinks
DNA: can't go wrong, been wowed by the food and service every time
        Holder: solid bistro fare
Koko: food is Asian fusion, was pleasantly surprised. If u eat there, you'll avoid the crazy lineups to get in for drinks afterwards
Vauvert: food and service were a bit uneven but also pleasantly surprised
Macaroni Bar: never been but people seem to enjoy it
