Good Shawarma in Markham

Can anyone reccommend a place for good Shawarma in Markham ?

I've tried Alex's on Highway 7 and was not that impressed.

  1. I frequently go to Alex's on Hwy 7 (and Kennedy) because I don't know of any other Shawarma places in Markham. It's decent fare....but I almost always order Falafel sandwich instead. He fries up the falafel fresh so it's pretty good.

    1. Where in Markham are you? Sababa and Me Va Me both around Steeles and Bathurst are in Thornhill, which is in Markham.

Me Va Me and Sababa are definitely *not* Markham.

Yeah, they are past Yonge Street, which is still Thornhill. East of Yonge Street, North of Steeles is the Markham part of Thornhill. I should have said part of Thornhill is in Markham. So, if the poster was living closer to the Yonge St end of Markham, those two places would be convenient.

      2. I have had a decent Shawarma at Melodies in Thornhill. If you want GOOD Shawarma, I don't think you'll find any in Markham. I would head to Scarborough (Shawarma Empire!!) for that.

        1. I just had lunch at a great shawarma place.

          Pitalicious

7605 Woodbine Ave right beside Bristol truck rental I think it use to be a coffee show many years ago.

I had a falafel platter, the baba ganosh was great, so was the falafel and the hummus.

My co worker had shawarma and said it was good.

It may not compare to your favourite place but if you are confined to Markham I think it is the best in the area.

Agree with Pitalicious. Was there today too. Their chicken shwarma is quite good. It is family run and they tell me that everything they serve is made from scratch. The last time I was there I tried the Falafel which was made to order and also delicious. This place is a keeper.

Yup, I can confirm that Pitalicious is indeed delicious! These days, if I'm confined to Shawarma in markham, Pitalicious is my first choice.

Often though I will opt to drive into Scarborough for Shawarma Empire :)

            2. I usually go to Shoom Shoom on Bayview but the convenience factor has something to do with it. Their chicken shawarma is a little on the greasy side for my taste but hits the spot.

I tried Shoom Shoom when they first opened... it was ok, but they had it so drowned in tahina / garlic / hummus that it was about 2/3rds pure sauce... it was the messiest sandwhich I have ever tried to eat.
