Midtown Restaurant Recommendations
I am staying on 45th street between sixth and seventh avenue for the next couple weeks and was hoping to get recommendations on moderately priced restaurants within walking distance. Ethnic restaurants such as Indian, Thai, South Pacific are fine. I eat just about anything.
Any recs would be most appreciated! Thank you.

You can't go wrong with Yum Yum Bangkok on 9th btwn 45th/46th for Thai, I'm excited to try the new location of Mooncake foods on 54th between 8th and 9th, Basilica is decent for a basic Italian fix on 9th between 46th and 47th, and I love (specifically) the chai at Coffee Pot on 9th between 48th and 49th. Good Korean at lovely Bann at 50th between 8th and 9th. Less lovely, but no less filling - huge, dirt-cheap bowls of noodle soup at Mee Noodle, 53rd and 9th. Hope that helps!

I have not been to the other locations of Mooncake Foods, but we did enjoy the new location. While there were some misses, at that price, it was certainly worth it and we will be going back. It would be worth it for the OP to go if he wants to try many places within his couple of weeks here, though I wouldn't pick it as a destination for ethnic cuisine per se. It is a very reasonable price; the OP should be aware that it is cash-only.

What defines walking distance for you? There are lots of ethnic eats along 9th avenue, all of which will be somewhere between 1/2 mile and a mile from where you are staying. Some Thai spots include Pam Real, Wondee, and a newer spot, Thai Pure Shophouse. There are many other cuisine options as well: Middle Eastern of various types, Ethiopian, Mexican, etc. which can be found on "Hells Kitchen" or "Ninth Avenue" threads.
