Dinner recs - Around Cerritos
Hi there. I'm going to see the B man tomorrow night. That would be Anthony Bourdain. My friend was talking some insanity about getting dinner at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center, where we will be seeing him - but I want something befitting an evening with Mr. Bourdain.
I do realize that Artesia is right down the street but I'm not so into Indian food. I'm of a mild constitution while she is one level above hell in the spicy department. Any suggestions? I'm thinking either early (6 ish) or afterwards (10ish). Any ideas for anything close? That area is kind of a culinary wasteland...except for Artesia, where I don't particularly want to go.
HELP me you hounds! I know you have good ideas. I stalk you on the boards A LOT. :)

We really enjoy Park Avenue, in Stanton. It's about 15 minutes from CPAC, using surface streets. The food's described as "creative renditions of classic American cuisine." One of the entrees is an entire chicken, deboned, filled with a stuffing, and reconstructed. It's moist & flavorful. We've had lamb, fish, salads, and an unusual appetizer -- flash-fried kale. It doesn't sound like much, but it is tasty. Price range (per OpenTable, $30 & under).

Just a few moles south of Cerritos is Beach Blvd. There is a fantastic Thai place, Thai Nakorn, in Stanton on Beach and my favorite Korean BBQ joint, Lighthouse, (not all you can eat) at the North end near Fullerton. Thai Nakorn will make anything mild, so you don't have to worry about it being too spicy, and there are the traditional peppers on the table so she can bring the heat to her plate.
