Good korean restaurant near North York Centre (Yonge/Empress)?

  • 6

Hello, looking for a good korean restaurant to eat at this Saturday early lunch (arrive ~11 or 11:30 AM).

A meat + rice dish would be a-ok. Not a fan of soups. A light meal would also be acceptable. Some variety on the menu would be nice. If they have a website with a menu, bonus.

Area desired is walking distance from North York Centre station, or north of Yonge/Sheppard to about Empress Avenue.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

  1. Ehwa is just a block or so north of North York Centre station (definitely walking distance), and perfectly decent (based on my one dinner there). I had one of the bibimbaps and one of the pork bone soups, and enjoyed both.

Have you been there this year? Heard it changed to a Japanese restaurant recently:

Yikes, no! I was there about a year ago and hadn't heard about the change. Are the Koreans just packing up and leaving that neighborhood? I think that's at least two down now...

No, more like koreans changing their restaurant and calling it japanese.

I'm sure you're right, although I find that prospect much more depressing.

I've been meaning to post a review of this place. They're calling themselves an izakaya. I've been a few times now and it's not great, but a decent addition to the area if you're looking for izakaya-type food. Full review to follow.
