Montreal with Kids

  • 3

We have been to Montreal several times without kids and now need recommendations for dinner and breakfast with them. We love Au Pied de Cochon and Liverpool house, but would like to try something else. Does anyone think L'Express is appropriate for breakfast? Also, a friend recommended Gibby's, but some of the reviews made it sound like a tourist trap and overpriced for the quality. Thanks!

  1. I don't think I ever went to L'Express for breakfast (I'm more a brunch person).

If you are in the area, why not.

As for Gibby's, it's a steakhouse, and IMO, not very interesting, is that what you are looking for ?

    1. It depends on how old your kids are, and how well-behaved they are in restaurants. Many places here are very kid-friendly.

      1. I've eaten at Gibby's with my kids (3 and 5) and it was an enjoyable experience. That being said, I agree with Maximilien that the food is somewhat uninteresting. It is your standard steakhouse. The food is good but very "been there, done that". However, I really enjoy the ambiance and I like going there with the kids.
As a general rule, when I want some good food but I am going out with the kids, I try to stick to restaurants that are in hotels (example: Renoir in the hotel Sofitel, XO in the hotel St-James, etc...) I find that hotels tend to be more used to dealing with kids and are therefore more easy going.
