Word is 20.21 is changing hands sometime in March. We have reservations this Saturday night. My question is when a restaurant is essentially closing, is it a bad idea to eat there right before it closes? Seems like a bad idea. Thoughts?

  1. It all depends on how the staff handles it. It isn't always a bad idea. I ate at Auriga (Doug Flicker's old restaurant) after he announced it was closing. The place was body to body. Everybody was celebrating the great run the restaurant had. It was one of the better meals I've ever eaten in this town and definitely an atmosphere like nothing I'd ever seen.

I don't think 20.21 is as loved by the restaurant patron community as Auriga was. Check that, there is no "think", I know it isn't. But I wouldn't be surprised to see 20.21 try and go out with a bang. Puck Co. is too much a professional to let it slide and ruin their reputation as they may someday want to come back here and open something new.

    1. I'm with DB. Asher wouldn't let things go down because they are closing.
