Dinner before Lion King at 8pm
First time in NYC.
Looking for a classic delicious meal before the show tonight. Would like to go somewhere that is classic NYC, but not necessarily touristy. Don't care if it is touristy--just has to be good food and drink. We like all kinds of foods, probably want to stay away from italian as we are going to Babbo tomorrow night.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

One of my pre-theater favorites that is in the area is Artisanal. The food is French bistro. The service has always been efficient without rushing. I've never had to run out to catch a show or hurry the server for the check.
The food is excellently executed traditional french bistro fare with an outstanding selection of cheeses-- make sure to walk by the marble table that features hundreds of cheeses on display. I am not a fondue lover but this is the only place I will order and enjoy fondue. I think there is a pre-theater 3 course dinner for about $38. The wine is reasonable.
The room is large, somewhat noisy but this sort of gets me in the mood for a night on the town.Good luck.
