Lunch in Morristown

menton1 Feb 17, 2011 04:10 AM

Looking for a casual lunch spot in Morristown or environs. Burgers or ethnic (not Indian), good value are what we like. No fast food. Thanks.

I liked the famished frog a few years back. Casual, burgers, bar, right in downtown Morristown. Haven't been lately.

Are you looking to have a drink with lunch? That makes a lot of difference.

        Nah, no liquor necessary.

OK, if that's the case, my first choice for good food/value would be Marjan, a Persian place on Speedwell Ave. across from Headquarters Plaza. I have never been, but Raul's Empanadas on Morris Ave. gets a lot of good press on this site and others. I think the best burger in town is at Sebastian's Steak House, but there you are paying $$$$. There was a good discussion about lunch in the area in this thread.

Marjan Website looks good, even if lunch menu seems a bit limited. Worth a shot. Thanks.

Just note that the parking is a little scarce on Speedwell Avenue where Marjan is located. Also, order the pita bread on the side, costs extra, but worth it. Hard to go wrong on the menu. Chicken kebob with a salad is less expensive than the chicken kebob and may be a better sized portion, but you really can't go wrong with anything I've had or heard about there.

I agree with Scarlet Knight, everything I have had there has been great. I am partial to the kebab-e-kubideh ( ground sirloin & lamb). There is a public parking lot behind the buildings on the next block (headed away from Morristown). Not sure how crowded it is during the day.

Gotta say that the Famished Frog isn't exactly interesting food...think (better quality) sports bar/TGIMcFunster's menu, no?
