2 Nights in Key West

Hi Everyone,

In mid-March my boyfriend and I are going to be driving down to Key West for 2 nights. I'm really, really excited for this trip. I've been dreaming of Key West all through the cold Northeast winter. :)

I already have a reservation for Louie's Backyard for one dinner but am looking for recommendations for our 2nd dinner. Cafe Marquesa, Azur, and Nine One Five are on my short list but am very much open to recommendations. We are looking for something delicious, unique, not over the top expensive....a place with soul. I am personally interested in seafood or something unique to Key West but am again open to ideas.

Our B&B will provide breakfast, but we will also need 2 lunch recommendations. I thought B.O.'s Fish Wagon looked really cool. Any other ideas. We like to have something delicious, soak in the atmosphere, and maybe enjoy a beer.

Thanks so much!

if you want to eat fresh in key west..go dig up some clams at low tide. look around piers and rocks for the langostinos...and if you get a boat to rent...make sure to take a hibachi and go out towards the tortugas .break of a few lobster tails and grill&release...don't get caught. maybe a hawaiin sling for some snapper..don't become shark food...any shark around4ft is dinner. REd RoBin....yum

This all sounds amazing...and if I had more time in town and a kitchen I probably would cook my own seafood after buying or catching it on the street.

But I don't think that's in the cards this time around.

I just got back from Key West, and Louie's was my best meal of the trip. Second best was Santiago's Bodega. It's tapas and would be good for dinner or a relaxed lunch w/sangria and a few tapas on the patio. Third on the list was Azur. The apps were more inventive/yummy than the entrees, but all in all, the meal was pretty good and inventive.

I went to Nine One Five on a past trip and really enjoyed it, but when I mentioned it to my server at Louie's on this trip, he looked at me like I was nuts. So, I don't know if he just didn't like it because it was on Duval, or if it has gone downhill since my last visit about 2 years ago. When I went the Sould Mama Seafood Soup was really good, though.

For lunch, B.O.'s is pretty good for fried fish sandwiches and a few beers. We didn't go, but our server at Louie's suggested Bad Boy Burrito for fish burritos, too, which sounds tasty. He also mentioned Mo's, a casual Haitian restaurant that he said is popular w/locals.

We always go to 915 and have never been disappointed. Antonia's on Duval is the best hands down for a devine Italian meal. Try some of the Conch shacks for fritters. Also great. Camille's for breakfast along with Colombian Grace.
