Southern/Soul food in St. Albans
Ii'm leading a bike trip to visit the homes of famous jazz musicians in St.Albans/Addesleigh Park this Saturday. i had planned to end the trip at Carmichael's Diner, but apparently it's been closed for a while (it's been a while since I was last there). does anybody have a suggestion on another Southern/soul food restaurant in the area - St.Albans/Jamaica/Hollis?

Stevsco again - I found a couple of places in Yelp - a soul food place called Burgundy's on 153 & Hillside, and a Liberian place - Maimo's on Guy Brewer. Has anybody been to either of these?

It's actually Maima's, and it's been reviewed here, by myself amongst others. I wouldn't hit it up, though, for Southern Soul Food. Although fried chicken is on the menu, their stock-in-trade is Liberian. I've found the menu to be useless anyway - it's whatever Maima has going on the stove on any particular day.

Just dropped off my daughter at JFK and hit one of my my favorite places, RCL Enterprise, AKA Rockaway Fish House. It is takeout only though. Three blocks east of the Van Wyck on Rockaway Blvd, the first exit north of the airport. There used to be a small soul food joint also on Rockaway west of the exit, but I don't know if it is still there. Maybe it was called J J' s. Brothers and Sisters is in St. Albans and has a good rep though I have never been there.

I miss Carmichael's.
Poor Freddie's Rib Shack is still open. Take-out only.
