Ugli fruit

I live in Kingston, Ontario. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase Ugli Fruit? It was sold at Produce Towne but it's mia for the past 3 months.

Thanks

Try any Chinese grocerie stores you may have in Kingston. The Pomelo's they sell are the same as the Ugli fruit I used to get in Grenada. They also seem to be available most of the year.

Pomelos and Jamaican Tangelos (aka Ugli fruit) are related but they are not the same thing, the latter is a hybrid between the pomelo and a tangerine and has a distinct flavor profile that is less grapefruity than a pomelo

I guess it depends on what island you're on, Ugli fruit in Greneda is definitely the same as Pomelo! It does not have the bitterness of a grapefruit, but it also is nothing like tangerine. It has the size and colour of grapefruit, but elongated and somewhat pointy at one end. It also has quite a thick skin and can be segmented. I can't eat the membrane or the pith, but I love the fruit anyway!!

The season for Jamaican Tangelo (aka Ugli fruit) is just getting started, if not already it should be back soon. I get the impression that many citrus crops have a delayed season this year due to the weather.
