With warm weather approaching, I'm back on the hunt for great places to sit outdoors. I'm thinking of places like Night Kitchen in Montague MA or Simon Pearce in Vermont (neither of which I've been to, and plan to get there this year). I'm in northern RI, so w/in 90 minutes of that is my target. Here are the other places on my 2011 list:

Golden Lamb Buttery, Brooklyn CT

Sharpe Hill Winery - been to the winery plenty of times, haven't eaten there yet.

My current favorite outdoor seating:

Spiced Pear in Newport - I find the food & service lacking for the price, but the setting makes it worth it, IMO.

Castle Hill, Newport

Last year I went to a place along the CT river valley...pretty sure we were in Deep River. It was in an old mill, 2 stories, cool outdoor seating. Cannot recall the name & googling isn't helping. Does anyone know what that would be?

once summer arrives, try The Place in Guilford CT. it's been reviewed plenty so I won't go on here, but it's one of those "have to try it once" places, always a good time. for dessert, there's an Ashley's ice cream in a strip mall across the street, their Coffee Oreo is fantastic

We have been to Simon Pearce many times! It is lovely and the food is very good. Best seats are by the waterfall. You can see the blown glass being made, beautiful, we buy a piece each visit.
We took a drive to the Golden Lamb Buttery just to look but we did not eat there. There were sheep roaming, beautiful countryside, very homey. I look forward to your review.
I agree with you on Spiced Pear. We love it for drinks, beautiful view, food........
We were in the Deep River area a few weeks ago. It is so beautiful there, great kitchen store in Essex. We went to The River Tavern in Chester which I really think you should try. It was VERY good, date pudding with caramel sauce makes it worth the trip. In the same town there is a French restaurant that looks great, do not know name. The restaurant you were talking about was " Brush Mill" or something like that.... I try to find out...
A restaurant that is so nice to sit outside is Skipper's Dock in Stonington CT but the food is just so so.

It is, The Brush Mill, Chester. The town is tiny but great! Also, in Essex there is an eagle festival, you take a boat ride and view eagles.
