Hanger Steak
Any restaurants around the Austin area, or even as far away as San Antonio, where you can get a Hanger Steak either regularly or as a special now and then?

The 'Steak Frites' at Olivia rotates cuts I think, as I've had it as a hanger steak and then another cut over the past couple years. Right now, it appears to be tri-tip. I've always enjoyed it greatly.

i had a hanger steak at parkside during austin restaurant week. Don't know if its on their regular menu though. Personally, I'd much rather have a strip steak or ribeye...

Yes, Parkside generally has a hanger steak as their bar steak, but it would probably be wise to call them and check first. I also see that Vespaio Enoteca serves hanger steak with frites as part of their regular menu.

Lamberts! Hangar steak is on their bar menu, meaning it's 8 bucks at happy hour. It's one of my favorite things in town. Topped with jalapeno butter and served with a toad in hole which sounds weird but it's a great combination. Add one or two of Chris's sazeracs and oh man what a meal.

Ooh, great tip! Thank you so much. I'll also ask about Parkside and check out Vespaio Enoteca. Thanks all.

Just seconding the Lambert's idea. It is a great, delicious, satisfying bargain! Sometimes they put a grilled tomato and grilled onion next to it. Even better when there's a good band upstairs.

Coincidentally, La Condesa across the street has a marinated hanger steak on their happy hour bar menu for about 8 bucks, and it come with a side of their yucca fries, which are fantastic.

Moonshine has a jalapeno hanger steak on the dinner menu. I like it with the roasted sweet potatoes for that sweet and spicy balance.

Vino Vino up in Hyde Park has a great hanger steak right now. Although their menu changes every now and then so I'm not sure how long it will be on there.

Annies Cafe & Bar is currently running a special on Tuesdays for Steak Frites that uses a hanger steak - 3 courses for $15. It comes with a lot of fries and a bernaise sauce. The bernaise was runny and bland, but I thought the steak was cooked wonderfully. (First course was a fried green tomato salad with arugula, goat cheese, and crispy proscuitto. Dessert was choice of lemon tart or chocolate/caramel/sea salt tart.)
Texas French Bread has "Onglet" Steak Frites from time to time - I've had it when it was Waygu, but don't know if it's always. (Their fries are good and they source as locally as possible. Definitely a plus. Check their menu as it changes daily)
