Salmon Skin Salad?

I had really delicious Salmon Skin Salad in Santa Barbara last year (as far as I remember the place was called "Goleta Sushi House"). It was a relatively standard japanese type salad (sorry I don't know what the dressing is called - sweetish, "watery", very light taste, on lettuce), fried salmon skin and some bonito flakes (I think!) on top. Nothing fancy but really, really good and I still crave it.

Anybody know where I can get a decent salmon skin salad of this type in the East Bay Area (or SF)? Berkeley or Oakland would be perfect but we have a car, a 30 min drive would be OK as well. Not interested in salmon skin rolls, just the salad...

Alternatively, could I make this at home? Can you buy just the salmon skin at Berkeley Bowl or some such place? I don't really care for the salmon itself, just the fatty skin with a thin layer of "flesh"...

    Geta off Piedmont Ave in Oakland is the best I've had.

      Thank you! The reviews of this place sound wonderful overall, so we'll definitely check that one out. (Salmon skin salad isn't on the menu I found online but someone on yelp also mentioned having had one there, so we'll just go there and have a look...it's very close)

        If you haven't had it yet, here's a shot.

        I would also recommend the agenasu - deep fried eggplant in a katsuoboshi broth. Most everything I've had there is excellent and the prices are VERY reasonable.

            Went there yesterday for dinner. Great place and so cute, we'll definitely be back. Salmon skin salad was just what I had in mind. Also loved the spider roll (w/ soft shell crab + avocado). Everything was delicious, so thanks for the recommendation!

        I just had the salmon skin salad at Yamasho in SF, and I think it might be even better than Geta's version. They definitely give you more salmon skin and the sauce is a bit more assertive. No ikura though. The chawan mushi is very good there as well.

          I enjoyed the salmon skin salad at Tani's Kitchen in Daly City. It had crispy skin and a good amount of salmon flakes.
