Help me plan my own chocolate tour!
I looked into doing a chocolate tour of Boston but they don't have very good reviews. So please help me plan my own! Where do you recommend I stop? And what do I try there? Any part of Boston is fine as we will go into Boston multiple times over the summer.
Thanks!

Consider adding the Erbaluce chocolate and eggplant dessert to your intinerary (call the chef/owner, I imagine it can be arranged ahead of time). Amazing dish, originally from Amalfi, I think.

A great way to hit a lot of places at one time is at Chocolate Madness. It's a fundraiser in late April at the Cyclorama. About 30-40 restaurants/chocolatiers/bakeries bring chocolate desserts and compete in a variety of categories (candies, cookies, brownies, cakes, ice creams, etc.). Tickets are $35 and give you access to as much chocolate as you could possibly want.

If you haven't already been, on your way to Boston make a stop in Lawrence to Van Otis Truffles. This is not the same as Van Otis Chocolate in Manchester, NH as Van Otis in Lawrence only specialize in Swiss truffles.
This place is truely a small family owed operation that has been putting out a great product for the past 40 years.
They are only open until May and then open again in September. When they reopen in September, they will be opening at a new location in North Andover, MA and closing their Lawrence location.

You will see a lot about Taza Chocolate Factory (in Somerville), which is interesting but I can;t get past the grittiness of it. the flavors are bright and it is locally made so i support it. Also in Somerville, I like the Belgian Truffle House on Broadway. Burdicks in Cambridge is another usual suspect.

Rizzo, Burdick's in Walpole is great if you want to do a more "food centric" trip - there's farms in the area that sell produce / cheese / raw milk. Plus, there's the great restaurant there, so you could do a Sunday brunch / food run.
Phillips in Dorchester might do a tour if you're interested in an old fashoined "Mom & Pop" type of place. Closer to Nashua, you have Swan & Van Otis.
