Need wedding venue advice

I am currently planning a destination wedding in New England and having a very difficult time finding what I want for what I can afford. My budget is about $50,000 however, I would like to stay below that. This past weekend, I visited Newport and found that I could not get what I wanted for that amount.

I am very particular with what I want. Our guest list is approximately 120-150 people. I want a venue that is close enough to a hotel that I do not have to worry about transportation for all of the guests. I also want to make sure I can customize my menu and have an amazing NY style cocktail hour, that will leave my guests nearly full. Of course, I also want a sit down dinner but it does not have to be top of the line since the cocktail hour will be great. Also, I am hoping to get married outside and have a tent for the reception or something comprable.

Does anyone have any ideas that would help me out. I am really having a tough time with this.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

  1. If you want waterfront and want to use a tent, this place is on Mt Hope Bay in Bristol.

    1. Check out the Chatham Bars Inn on The Cape. My neice is booking the exact same style of wedding there this August.

I went to a wedding at Chatham Bars Inn somewhat recently. Gorgeous location but the food was disappointing, most of which was served stone cold.

Thanks for the responses. I heard that Chatham Bars Inn is the "it" place to get married. Has anyone heard anything about Waquasett?

Never been to a wedding at Wequassett, but I have eaten at 28 Atlantic, arguably the best restaurant on Cape, and also at their outside cafe, also wonderful. The grounds and setting are superb and it is certainly worth checking out what they offer.
Avoid Ocean Edge. I've been to two weddings there and food was really awful (classic rubber chicken fish) and the facility not what you would expect of a high cost venue.
