I'm hoping to revive this string to see if anyone has updates on the restaurants going into the Fish Pier and Terrie's Place locations and any other important eatery changes in the neighborhood. Thanks!

Heard that the owners of the Paramount on Charles St. are opening up a 2nd location at the old Fish Pier site. I noticed some construction the other week. I would think this will be a huge hit in Southie.
Terrie's PLace is supposedly turning into a sushi restaurant, but I don't have any specifics.

Agreed, I'll also add the opening of Cafe Mamtaz last year (which is really delicious Indian take-out/delivery) to the list of recent neighborhood improvements. I'm pretty excited about the potential selection of beers on tap going in at the Local 149, if the owner's other restaurant, the Biltmore in Newton, is any indication of things to come. If Southie could just get a decent Thai place, then I'd be in heaven. As it is, delivery from Thai's Bistro or House of Siam, will have to do.

re: Fort Point
American Provisions is indeed now open in Southie -- and it is fantastic! It's located on the corner of E. Broadway and I St. They carry an impressive selection of cheeses, many local, but also from all over the world, tons of fresh bread, meats, charcuterie, pastas and gourmet sauces, jams, dressings, etc. They also sell Kickass Cupcakes (from the Somerville bakery) and a variety of other chocolates and treats. The first time I walked in I was in heaven and when I walked out my wallet was quite a bit lighter. Their prices are not low - although, I did hear one of the owners say that they're planning to stock some regular, low priced grocery items, plus a selection of prepared dishes like macaroni and cheese.
They also have a public meeting in Southie tomorrow night to see about getting a license to sell beer and wine.
All in all, the products (and prices) at American Provisions might not appeal to everyone, but there's nothing else like it in the neighborhood and I think its a very welcome addition.
One of the owners, I believe, of American Provisions is also one of the guys opening the new Local 149 on P St. -- its under construction but I can't find any information on their impending start date.
While we're on the subject of Southie, does anyone have any gossip about what might be going into the old Fish Pier and Terri's Diner spots?

Checked out American Provisions yesterday, and they are indeed a very welcome addition to the neighborhood! Gorgeous cheese selection (including burrata), Kinnealey Prime beef, duck confit, fois gras, fresh spices and things like blood oranges and other accouterments. So excited! Southie has come a long way...

I, for one, am very excited to see this place open and can't wait to try it out. The City Point neighborhood good really use a place like this.
