Tandoori Powder -- what to do with it?

I bought a lovely jar of Tandoori powder that's been sitting on the shelf for weeks and I still haven't figured out what to do with it. We're not big meat or dairy eaters, and every recipe I find seems to involve chicken. Thoughts?

The name 'tandoori' refers to type of grill (in the form of big clay jar), used to grill meats and bake bread (naan). It isn't usually used to cook vegetables.

The spice mix probably is typical of the mix that is added to yogurt and used as marinade/coating for chicken and other meats. So that is why are only find those items.

If you have some idea of what spices in the mix, especially the major ones, you might find some vegetable dishes that use a similar mix. You might be able substitute if for curry powder in a typical Westernized Indian recipe.

You can use it on vegetables, too. Try potatoes. Marinate potatoes in a mixture of tandoori masala and yoghurt, put them on skewers in between bell pepper and onion petals, and oven roast. Oila, tandoori potatoes.

you said you're not big dairy people, but the powder is typically mixed with yogurt and used as a marinade - can you handle that? it's terrific on shrimp, salmon or firm white fish.
