Great breakfast options within walking distance of the Royal York Hotel?
The RY hotel breakfast is amazingly expensive, and unimaginately heavy on salt - bacon and sausages and eggs.
Where is the best place near the Royal York for a Hound-Worthy breakfast - pork and eggs are fine, but let's not pay $40 for breakfast!!

Canteen is nice for breakfast. It's on King W and John St in the TIFF Bell Lightbox.
http://www.oliverbonacini.com/OurRestaurants/Canteen/Menus.aspxThe Gabardine is a new place on Bay just north of Adelaide. I've only been for dinner once and enjoyed it. Surprisingly homey vibe given the location near the heart of the financial district. The breakfast menu is limited but it may have what you're looking. It's on the last page of the PDF linked to on their homepage.

The lumberjack at Victoria Cafe (less than a km away). Probably the best sandwich you'll ever have for breakfast. It's everything in a regular diner breakfast (pork, eggs, cheese, homefries, tomato etc) on a giant soft roll. Mmmmmmm

re: downtownfoodie
Le Petit Dejeuner on King West is awesome - 10 minute walk which is fine in this weather.
Another cheap and east option is the Sunset Grill on the corner of Yonge and Richmond, but the first option a real Toronto brunch option-----

If you are referring to Cafe Victoria @ Queen & Victoria, there are reports that it has closed...
