Good but inexpensive place for a rehearsal dinner

joy314 Feb 12, 2011 02:09 PM

I'd like to find a place to have a rehearsal dinner in Baltimore for about 40 people. Now I know everyone says they want it to be good but inexpensive, but for us, its kind of a necessity. IS there such a place? Thanks for any help you can give.

You should define inexpensive. $25 per person? $50 per person? Does that include drinks?

You're right. $20 to $25 per person, not including drinks is my goal.

Do you have a preference for general location?

          Federal Hill/Inner Harbor area.

If really trying to economize you might trade location for more average fare - thinking Nick's or Little Havana both with water views (and Nick's w parking). If you want higher quality, I'd be tempted to try to negotiate a $25-$30 pp menu from Jerry at Corks. Tough challenge!

Both good suggestions............thank you! It looks like Cork's doesn't take private parties larger than 14 so I'll add Little Havana to my list of places to check out further. Thanks again for taking the time.

Just curious where you ended up for your rehearsal dinner. I'm getting ready to start planning one as well for the inner harbor area in late October, and am looking for ideas. I live in Philly area, so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage as far as Baltimore. Considering getting a room in the hotel and having it catered. Any good Indian caterers in Baltimore?

I'm afraid I won't be much help. We actually wound up taking a completely different route and had a BBQ catered at Centennial Lake in Ellicott City. It was actually perfect, and just the kind of fun and low-key event we wanted. As for Indian food in Baltimore, you'll find that opinions are many and varied. I've always liked both the Ambassador Dining Room and Akbar. I know that Akbar caters. Good luck to you!

Thank you! The menu for Akbar looks wonderful. I've got a lot of vegans coming, so hopefully they can work with us on that.

I recently had my rehearsal dinner at MELI in Fells Point and it was cheap in comparison to others.
