Rodes Seafood bonita springs good for stone crab to take home?

Yes. They do the best job of cracking crabs, making it very easy when you get home.

thanks Rev, do you have any lunch spots close to Rodes? we are leaving Santibel inthe am going to Rodes to pick up stone crabs to go to Labelle. lunch anywhere along the way you suggest. probably drive corkscrew road over to 29 north.

Kevin, You are really driving out of your way going from Sanibel south to Bonita Springs and then back North to Labelle. Unless you have some reason for that, I'm not sure it's worth the ride. On 41 a couples miles north Bonita Beach Rd. is a pub/restaurant called Landsdowne Street that has very good lobster rolls. Right on the gulf 5 minutes east of Rodes(I know it's going in the other direction but not far) is a restaurant on the beach with great views called Docks. They have good grouper sandwiches. Make sure to sit upstairs.

thanks it sounds great. I don't know where else to buy stone crabs,if I go from sanibel north. do you? I heard rodes was good thats all I know.

Pinchers has a retail seafood counter in their restaurants offering the crabs. I like them more at Rodes, especially because they carry the jumbos, but I'm sure you will still be happy.

If you're coming South from Sanibel for crabs, then to Labelle, one closer spot than a long detour to Bonita Springs is Beach Seafood, Fort Myers Beach, 239- 463-8777. Or see if Sandy Butler has crabs. Call to check prices in advance, they vary a lot! Still, ther must be someplace like a Publix in Ft Myers to cover you!
Since they are all boiled on the boats then iced, there's not much of a variation in taste at decent suppliers, my experience.
