Jak's Bagels, Richmond, VA

Well, Jak's finally opened up in Carytown. Very disappointing. Bagels are misshapen globs of...something. Which I could live with, if they were any good. They aren't. Very doughy texture, overpoweringly yeasty, and without the kind of crispy outside that a good bagel should have. Even toasted it was not just not good, but outright lousy. My wife and I had been waiting for this place to open for MONTHS. Sigh. We really need some good bagels here. Bodo's should move in from c'ville, they'd make a killing...

bummer. bagels in richmond really are a tragedy. and with the actually surprisingly cosmopolitan nature of this town, i agree a truly good bagel joint would do amazing.
i need to open a cincinnati shop - skyline chili, graeters ice cream, and marx bagels. would fill a bunch of the needs in richmond dining. :)
