I love the Gumbo Bar and and have been a regular at the original in Galveston for a while now. My after church Sunday routine is to head down for a bowl of their gumbo which is the best around. I like all of their gumbo but prefer the seafood. It has just the right amount of shrimp and crab to make it great. Don't do oysters but for those that do they can be in there as well.
Have not visited the new location in League City but look forward to doing that soon.

Where is the Gumbo Bar in League City. Stopped in the one in Galveston for a beverage before a show and the food smelled wonderful!

It's at exit 20 on I-45 South, between League City and Dickinson. Go east and it's a couple of blocks down on the left. There is a Freebird's and another restaurant in the same strip so parking can be a mess at lunch time. I'm anxious to get back and try some of the other dishes.

Today I had a small soft shell crab poboy and the chargrilled oysters. The oysters were nice and plump but I thought they had too much cheese on them, it kind of overwhelmed the oyster taste. They were good though. The poboy was big for a small one, like 8" or more long. The soft shell crab was really good but small. The fries were great. Husband had the shrimp poboy and thought it was really good, it had lots of large shrimp. There are plenty more things there I want to try like the gumbo and the bbq shrimp (NO style). I will go back soon. They were pretty crowded and I'm guessing next time there will be a wait to get a table during the busy hours.

Went back this week and had the seafood gumbo. I like Tommy's in Clear Lake better but it was really good. Lots of shrimp, oysters and crab. Rich flavor. Huge serving in the small bowl. I added Tabasco as it wasn't real spicy. I would get it again, no doubt about it. I won't drive down there for it but when I'm in the area, this is my go-to place. The sweet potato fries were over-salted and the garlic bread had salt on it and was too salty. I guess someone mistook the garlic salt for garlic powder. Next time I'll ask for lightly salted. I ate it anyway, it wasn't ruined, just too much salt for my taste.
