Looking for Homemade Noodles

bitsubeats Feb 9, 2011 02:38 PM

I'm visiting my sister and brother in law next week in Atlanta. The brother in law has been craving homemade kalgooksoo (칼국수) and wants to know if I can find a place in the area that does homemade hand pulled noodles.

I know that hand pulled noodles are more associated with chinese cuisine and jajangmyun type places, so is there any restaurants or groceries that make it themselves? I figured if we couldn't find a restaurant I could always buy the noodles and make the soup at their house because it's pretty easy to make. Oh and bonus points if you know a place that makes hand pulled jajangmyun noodles...haven't had those in a while.

I remember watching an episode of Chef vs. City on Food Network a few months ago and there being something about hand pulled noodles in Atlanta. Does this ring a bell?

Any and all suggestions would be most welcome!

The place you saw on Chef vs. City was China House in Assi Plaza. Excellent hand pulled noodles, highly recommend it.

Thanks! I am definitely going to try that place when I go down.

So if there are no places that do handmade kalgooksoo, are there any good korean restaurants that do a good rendition?

There are a couple of very good korean restaurants around the city. I will have to pull my notes out to determine which they are as they names all tend to run together or are just hard to remember.

There was a recent thread on this board for Korean restaurants. I bet they're all covered there, so just take a quick search and you'll find it.
