Where to go for 27th birthday?

Hi Chowhounds

I'm hoping to throw a 27th birthday party for my roommate. I'm trying to find a Boston bar with a lively scene where we can go out dancing (DJ or live music). We don't want to be surrounded by a sea of 21 year-olds... or 50 year-old townies. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

  1. definitely Menton.

Isn't Menton kinda pricey for 27 year old's? It's not a bar either. How about Scampo or East Coast Grill? Dance later.

Thank you for your suggestions, but we're really focused more on the bar scene than fine dining.

Beachowolfe was kidding. AllyLasky, Chowhound is very food-focused, so I might look elsewhere for advice. Although this thread might help.

    2. Are you asking about places you can eat and dance? It's not clear.

If so, some ideas: Think Tank in Kendall square, Zuzu or Middlesex in Central, 28 Degrees in South End. I'm not sure, but I think Diva in Davis has dancing but I've never been.

      1. I just struggled with a similar question for my 27th birthday, I was looking for something rather low key but with music, a decent bar and a good scene. I debated going to the Beehive but instead ended up at an old standby in east cambridge, Atwoods, that has a great live band on Fridays. it was a fun scene, great music, and a place where you can get a good beer and great bar food...as I said its really low key but I had a great time.
