Hey all, I'm looking for a nice meal to celebrate a birthday on Sunday. I'd like to find an Italian restaurant near the La Cienega area, north of the 10. Price is not problem. Thanks.

Angelini Osteria is the best Italian in town and it's not super expensive -- I've gone there for my bday but it's not on the super fancy side. It's near La Cienega, on Beverly. Below is the website -- do a search, much discussed.

Or if you want someplace a little less crowded and noisy, its excellent sister restaurant, La Terza, is just a few blocks East of La Cienega on 3rd.

For a cheaper and less fancy alternative you might like Caffe Carrera on the W side of La Cienega between Wilshire and Gregory. Cute little Italian joint -- although a little of the proprietor goes a long way.

Armando at Caffe Carrera is very sweet - and if you want something that's not on the menu, they'll make it for you!

ossobuco is incredible, great wine lists, lentil soup like in Sicilia, great little pizzas, dont fill up on the bread, and if your lucky, Armando sings while you dine ala Frank Sinatra.

their penne arrabiata is good and they'll also do a penne puttanesca on request.
