Replies That Don't "Take"

On several occasions, I've composed a reply to someone else's post and, when I hit the Post My Reply button, nothing happens. The little circle at the bottom that indicates that the action is in process goes round and round, but the reply never gets accepted into the thread. Usually this happens when I have spent some time on a longish reply. Early on, I would get tired of waiting, get out of the thread and lose my post. Now I know enough to copy the text before I leave the thread, so I can paste it back in when I hit Reply again. Still, I wonder why this happens. Is there a time limit on how long a reply box can be open before the reply is posted?

Have you ever seen "Waiting for Godot?" ;-D> Sometimes what I do is (always) copy my text first, then hit the reload button. At times the post will then appear on the second go. If not I open the reply box again, paste my post and hit reply button and it invariably then works.

    1. I take steps similar to those mentioned by Servorg. If it's a "medium-long" post, then I copy it and then hit reply. If it doesn't take I can "refresh" and start anew. If it's a really long post -- something I've spent time on like a restaurant review, e.g. -- then I write it in word processing first and copy it over. For some reason, that little spinning wheel always seems to occur when least desirable! And unfortunately, I get the sense that it can hang there forever.

You're right that it happens after spending a long time writing a reply. It never seems to occur with short replies.
