Brewing beer, curing meat, or making cheese? Get great advice

Just started working a job in Van Nuys in the shadow of the giant Budweiser Beer plant and discovered a wonderful sandwich place on Roscoe near Woodley. It's called Van Nuys German Deli and they have a great selection of cold cuts. More types of head cheese than even Schriners! The owner told me he's been in business for forty years now. Best of all, they have big fresh Bavarian soft pretzels. They are every bit as good as the ones Hans Rockenwagner sells, although not quite as big. This place makes really good sandwiches for very reasonable prices; all between $6.50 and $8.50. It's a little bit of lunch heaven in an otherwise bleak culinary neighborhood.

Interestingly enough, there is another very good German Deli in Glendale on the Burbank border called the Continetal German Deli at 6406 San Fernando Road, corner Sonora, not far from the ABC Television Studios. 818.502.1447

They make their own sausages and their frankfurters are fantastic.
