Whole Foods Kids Club changes - rant

At our local WF store they had this cute little scheme where kids could sign up to receive treats like fruit, juices, fruit jerky etc.

As of Feb 1st, their policy has changed. They make you (or your kid) go on a scavenger hunt to get one lousy piece of fruit strip !!!!

WTF is this nonsense ? They know full well that people are not likely to have the time or patience to indulge in scavenger hunts, very disappointed !

End of rant.

Gee, now why would a retailer want you to wander all over the store searching for something. Could it be an opportunity for them to get you to go look at products that aren't on your shopping list? Could this wonderful generous store have an ulterior motive? pardon the sarcasm, wasn't meant to be patronizing.

I'm sure Whole Foods doesn't charge premium prices to cover the costs of a few boxes of fruit strips a day. Didn't you know you were bankrupting the company ? Shame on you.
The corporate exec's salary could easily cover this petty cost, let alone the company itself.

How dare they make it harder for you to get free food!

The Whole Foods fairy giveth and the Whole Foods fairy taketh away. I still have fond memories of taking my kids to the Fresh Fields store where there was an abundance of free samples. They would pretty much run from station to station trying everything. Then Whole Foods took over the market and it all went to hell. It's a good lesson for the kiddies - especially for these times. There's no such thing as a free fruit strip.
